Carol Lynn Schulz, affectionately known as Lynn, of Farmingville, NY, passed away on January 5, 2025, at the age of 85. Born on December 10, 1939, in Brooklyn, NY, Lynn lived a life of love, service, and dedication to her family, friends, and community.
Lynn was the loving mother of Jeffrey (Alida) and Jennifer Schulz and the cherished grandmother of Jordan Gilliam, Kailyn Schulz, and Jeffrey T. Schulz. She was the adored sister of William Donovan and is predeceased by her beloved brother, Michael Donovan. Lynn is also survived by many dear nieces and nephews, extended family, and countless friends who were touched by her kindness and generosity.
A dedicated educator, Lynn retired after 32 years of teaching in the Longwood School District, where she worked at both the Coram Elementary and Longwood Middle School. Her passion for nurturing young minds left a lasting legacy among her students and colleagues.
Lynn’s life was full of vibrant passions, including her love of gardening and her frequent trips to Foxwoods, Mohegan Sun, and Jake's 58 Casinos. Jake’s 58 held a special place in her heart, as its proximity allowed for quick, enjoyable day trips.
On July 10, 2025, Lynn would have celebrated 43 remarkable years of sobriety—an accomplishment that brought immense pride to her and her family. She was a guiding light in the Patchogue Alcoholics Anonymous community, where she mentored countless individuals on their paths to recovery. Known as the matriarch of AA in Patchogue, she extended her heart and hand to anyone in need, embodying compassion and strength.
Stubborn, independent, and strong-willed, Lynn was deeply devoted to her family. She cherished the time spent with her loved ones, especially during the holidays. Her legendary German butter cookies were a family Christmas tradition that she lovingly passed on to her grandchildren, Jordan and Kailyn, ensuring her recipe and the cherished tradition would live on.
Lynn’s unwavering love, guidance, and strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will remain a source of inspiration, reminding us of the importance of love, resilience, and community.
