Susan Murphy, of Mount Sinai, NY, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2025, at the age of 65. Born in the Bronx on December 4, 1959, Susan was a vibrant and compassionate soul who left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Beloved wife of the late Terence Murphy, Susan was the devoted and loving mother of Justin and Terence Murphy. She was also a cherished sister to Michael Palmisciano and James Palmisciano (Missy), and a loyal friend to many.
Susan had a heart as big as her smile. Known for her warmth, quick wit, and unwavering support for the underdog, she brought laughter and kindness into every room she entered. Her sense of humor was matched only by her generosity and fierce love for her family.
An exceptional athlete, Susan was named one of the best athletes on Long Island for three consecutive years during high school. She excelled in volleyball, tennis, softball, and basketball, and was honored with the prestigious Gold Key Award in recognition of her athletic achievements.
Beyond sports, Susan found joy in many passions. She was an avid golfer, a talented cook, and a creative spirit who loved painting and tending to her garden. Her home was always filled with the beauty of blooming flowers, fresh vegetables, and the joyful presence of dogs—companions she adored throughout her life.
A memorial Mass celebrating Susan’s life will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 10 AM at St. Louis de Montfort Roman Catholic Church, 75 New York Avenue, Sound Beach, NY 11789.
Susan's life was a beautiful example of love, strength, and laughter. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
