
Born in Brooklyn, Tom was a lifelong Long Islander whose pride in his community and country shaped every aspect of his life.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Tom was an active member of the Stony Brook American Legion, where he forged lifelong friendships and remained dedicated to honoring fellow servicemen and women.
Tom’s greatest passions included history, antique Civil War items, and the great American pastime—baseball. A die-hard Brooklyn Dodgers fan, he carried his love of the team and the game throughout his life. He was also involved in harness racing and enjoyed the thrill and camaraderie that came with it.
Tom will be deeply missed by his son, Chris Perez, daughter Kimberly Olivito, granddaughters Samantha and Hope, and grandson Dominic. He will be remembered for his loyalty, wit, and deep appreciation for the past. He touched the lives of many through his warmth and enthusiasm for the things he loved most.
A funeral service will be held at Calverton National Cemetery on Friday, October 31, 2025, at 11:00 a.m.
