

Thomas Charles Ruehle, Sr. gracefully joined his beloved wife of 51 years, Rosa Maria on June 15, 2025, into eternal rest with family at his bedside. Thomas was born and raised in Queens, New York on October 2, 1946, and was a proud member of the United States Air Force. Several years ago, he and his wife decided to make a bold and life altering move upstate to Johnstown, New York, to live closer to his daughter, Laura and three of his ten grandchildren. After this move, Thomas become an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Johnstown, serving as the Clerk of Session. After the passing of his loving wife in February 2022, he also became an active member of the Shirley J. Luck Senior Citizens Center in Johnstown. There he met and gained many new friends which he enjoyed playing cards and other table games with, particularly “chicken foot” as well as going on trips together several times per year.
Thomas is survived by his sons, Thomas Jr. (Cynthia), Jason, and Matthew (Joanna), his one and only baby daughter, Laura, and ten grandchildren – Ashley (Delaney), Jonathan, Joshua, Daniella, Alexandra, Thomas, Jonathan William, Isabella, Jayceon, and Ja’niyah; his baby sister, Helen and brother Robert; nieces – Nancy, Pam, and Sandra; nephews – Gary, Robert, and Michael; and many great-nieces/nephews. He is predeceased by his loving wife, Rosa, his parents Charles & Dorothy, his sister, Carol, and his brother-in-law, Thomas, as well as many other family and friends.
For Thomas’ friends in Johnstown and those closer to his ‘upstate home,’ a separate memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on S. Market Street on Saturday, July 5th @ 11:00am with a small reception to follow.
Visitation will be held at O. B. Davis Funeral Homes, located at 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776, on June 22, 2025. The visitation hours are from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A prayer service will take place at the same location on June 22, 2025, at 7:30 pm.
The committal service is scheduled for June 23, 2025, at 11:00 am at Calverton National Cemetery, located in Wading River, NY 11792.
