Wade Paul Hoover, of Port Jefferson Station, NY, passed away peacefully on September 11, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on March 3, 1947, in Manhattan, NY, Wade was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and a man whose heart belonged entirely to his family.
Wade was the beloved husband of 35 years to his soulmate, the late Maryann Hoover. Their love was a guiding light for their family and continues to inspire all who knew them. He was a dedicated and loving father to Anne Marie Hoover, Victoria Hoover, Wayd Hoover, Amy Erhardt, and Angela Rivera.
He was also a cherished grandfather to Domenick Hoover, Melissa Brown, Nikos Insley, Giovani Erhardt, Angelina Erhardt, Lucia Rivera, Logan Rivera, Arianna Lynch, Gavin Rivera, Lillyanna Rivera, and Darius Lynch. Wade was deeply involved in their lives — from helping to raise them, to folding paper boats together, to sharing heartfelt moments like telling his granddaughter Lucia, “We make a good team" after she helped him with his garden.
Wade is also survived by his adored siblings, Joseph Areco and James Hoover, and his dear cousin Eddie Shrek, with whom he shared an exceptionally close bond.
In his younger days, Wade expressed his creativity through music, playing in a jazz band — a passion that added rhythm and joy to his life. He also enjoyed fishing on his boat, Angela’s Pearl, cooking delicious meals (especially his legendary antipasta salad), and tending to his thriving vegetable garden. A loyal Mets fan, Wade found comfort in his favorite TV programs, but nothing compared to simply spending time surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
Wade’s life was a testament to unconditional love, quiet strength, and unwavering support. His family was his world, and he made sure each one of them felt it — every single day.
A visitation for Wade will be held on Friday, September 19, 2025 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at O.B. Davis Funeral Homes, 4839 Nesconset Highway, Port Jefferson Station, NY 11776. Prayer service on Saturday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Entombment to follow at Washington Memorial Park, 855 Canal Road, Mount Sinai, NY 11766.
Wade Paul Hoover will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him. His legacy of love, laughter, and family-first devotion lives on in each of those he held dear.
