Dorothy Koop, 89, of Edna joined her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. She was born on the family farm in Edna to Tena Hoffman Jacobs and J.A. Jacobs on February 23, 1933. She married the love of her life (and pain in her side), Ewald Koop on September 1, 1950 and they were blessed with three wonderful children. She was a "domestic engineer" and was named employee of the year annually. After raising her children, Wednesday's were spent at Jacobs Feed Store where she was the cashier - but, she was really there just to get caught up on everyone's business who entered the door. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, CLEANING (she may be the only person who swept their ceiling!!) picking up sticks in her yard, and traveling. She and Ewald, along with Billie Rae and George, had a dream of traveling to all 50 states. However, Ewald refused to get on an airplane and cross the ocean so Hawaii never happened, nor did Alaska. Next to her grandchildren, her cows were her pride and joy (every one of them had a name!). She never missed working cattle, which resulted in losing her wedding ring. Ewald almost had a heart attack when he found out the cost of a new diamond (prices had a changed a little over the years). She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and loved her church family.
Dorothy leaves behind her daughter Kathy Land (Kenneth); her son Charley "Wayne" Koop (Linda); and her daughter-in-law Connie Koop; her grandchildren, Mike Smith (Skye), Jamie Kinsfather (Chad), Dustin Smith (Krista), Clayton Koop (Monica), Chad Land (Jamie), and Amber Robles (Chris); her great-grandchildren, Colt Lambert, Caroline "Cricket" Lambert, Conner Sanders, Demi Lambert, Skylar Land, Gwyneth Kinsfather, Cameryn Robles, Croix Smith, Landon Smith, Charley Kinsfather, Calla Smith, Lexi Smith, Saylor Koop, Mike Freeze, Joshua Goble and 2 great-great-grandchildren; most all have inherited her stubbornness and frugalness.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Ewald Koop; son Larry Koop; father J.A. Jacobs and mother Tena Hoffman Jacobs; brother J.C. "Bub" Jacobs; granddaughter Stephanie Lambert; grandson, Ryan Koop; and her great-grandson Granger Koop.
