Freda P Hicks O'Briant

Mrs. O’Briant was an active member of her church and community. She loved cooking delicious meals and taking care of everyone. With boundless energy, she enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, and was kind and generous to all. Her passions were visiting and fellowshipping with friends through conversation, music and food, playing board games, reading, collecting cookbooks and dolls. She was the heart of all family gatherings. During her struggle with cancer she was uplifted by the gospel music group who happily performed, offering her spiritual comfort. Her courage, strength and faith carried her through her tireless fight with ovarian cancer. She was an inspiration to all.

She is survived by her husband, Bobby Murlyn O’Briant of Seadrift; daughters, Cheryl Schilhab and husband, John of Boerne and Sheila Gann of Victoria; grandchildren, Sarah & Rachel Schilhab and Taryn & Brian Gann and her beloved sister’s children, Dayton Cole, Amy Cline and Stephanie Cassey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Carolyn Campbell and brother, Arthur Wayne Hicks.

Visitation will be held Saturday, June 19, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Seadrift. Funeral Services will begin at 3:00 p.m. with Dennis Wittnebert and Montie Martin officiating. Interment will follow in Seadrift Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Gable O’Briant, Leonard O’Briant, Jerry Weaver, John Schilhab, Tod Gann and Kelly Cline.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Deacons at First Baptist Church of Seadrift.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Seadrift or Hospice of South Texas.
