Lester Brown McClurkan

Lester Brown McClurkan, 78 of Port Lavaca passed away, July 20, 2010. He was born July 15, 1932 in Dickson, TN to the late Andrew Brown and Bessie Seals McClurkan. Lester was a member of the VFW and served in the Air Force during the Korean War. He retired from Civil Service after many years of dedicated service. Mr. McClurkan, known as “Pop” by his family, adored all his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacquelyn Forcke McClurkan of Port Lavaca; daughters, Linda McPherson (Tim), Lana Taylor (Geryl) and Debra McClurkan-Blakeman (Danny) all of Port Lavaca; grandchildren, Chad McPherson (Kathy Veit), Star Mata (Freddy), Rebekah McPherson, Jay Taylor (Jennifer), Christopher Taylor (Candace), Dakota Taylor, Kayln Taylor, Holli Stevens (Roger Padron), Nikki Stevens (Shawn Blevins) and Taylor Blakeman; great-grandchildren, Clarissa, Sidney and Jakob Mata, Jackson Nunley, Mason, Kolton, Trenton and Trevor Taylor, Xavier and Drake Padron and Ryan Blevins; sisters, Sara and Don Turno and Mary and Ralph Dotson.

In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by a great-grandchild, Brianna Blevins and a sister, Ruby McClurkan.

A time of visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Thursday, July 22, 2010 at the Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm on Friday, July 23, 2010 at the Richardson-Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Nick Stewart officiating. Burial will follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Tim McPherson, Geryl Taylor, Danny Blakeman, Jay Taylor, Christopher Taylor, Dakota Taylor, Chad McPherson. Honorary Pallbearers will be Ralph Dotson, Don Turno, Charles Forcke, Mike Forcke, John Monday, Melvin F. Garrett, Melvin Earl Garrett and Jerry Miller.

Memorial donations may be made to one of Mr. McClurkan’s favorite charities, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, care of, Clayton’s Angels, 356 Bauer Rd, Port Lavaca, Texas 77979.
