

Manuel Gonzales, Jr. (Mr. G) 91 of Port Lavaca passed away November 5, 2014. Manuel was born May 9, 1923 in Port Lavaca to the late Manuel and Blasa Calzada Gonzales. Mr. Gonzales was a retired Process Technician from ALCOA. He served his country in the United States Army where he was injured during WWII and was awarded two Purple Hearts. Manuel was a member of the AARP 1106, ALCOA 25 yr. Club, KofC 3253, Boy Scouts Troop 361, DAV 180, Purple Heart 3077 and VFW 4403.
He is survived by his wife Elisa Alvarez Gonzales which he was married to for 66 years; sons, Jessie (Rose), Manuel III (Josie), Johnny Frank, Jimmy (Lucy) and Jerome Gonzales (Cindy); eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Melchides (Pito) Gonzales and wife Irene of Mission.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Juan, Frank, Gilbert, Porfirio and Blas Gonzales; sisters, Felicitas Tiran, Rosa Enriquez and Mary Gonzales.
A Rosary will be recited at 7 pm on Friday, November 7, 2014 at the Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Richardson Colonial Funeral Home. Burial with full military honors will follow at the Port Lavaca Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Gonzales, Jr., Manuel Gonzales, IV, Benjamin Gonzales, Joe Enriquez, Mike Gonzales, Eusebio Rubio, and Nico Esparaza. Honorary Pallbearers will be Joe Koliba, Joe Garza, Johnny Frank Gonzales, Jr., Kenneth Ondreas, Tomas Romo, Reynaldo Reyes, Richard Solis, Tommy Carreras, Lou McDonald and Martin Ureste.
