Mary Nell Hawes

Mary Nell Goode Hawes, 97 of Port O’Connor passed away December 20, 2014. She was born March 29, 1917 in Yoakum, Texas to the late Claude Wood and Grace Amelia Boak Goode. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Cathoic Church in Port O’Connor and was the last surviving graduate of the Port O’Connor High School. She married Lloyd Clark Hawes and they were married for 45 years before he passed away 33 years ago.

She is survived by her daughters, Joanne Stoe of San Antonio, Jeanie Hawes of Liberty Hill and Joy Bunch of Port O’Connor; sons, Lloyd Hawes and wife Alma of Victoria, John Hawes and wife Georgia of Port O’Connor; sister, Marjorie Hawes of Port O’Connor; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd Clark Hawes; sister, Grace (Tudie) Albrecht; brothers, Claude Goode and Henry Goode; 3 great-grandchildren, Brooke Rigamonti, Travis Hawes and Casey Joehnk.

A Rosary will be recited at 6 pm on Friday, December 26, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port O’Connor. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 am on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at the Church with Father Tommy Chen officiating. Burial will follow at the Seadrift Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Port O’Connor.
