

Pauline Zak, 86, of Rockport passed away June 2, 2013. She was born August 24, 1926 in Edna, TX to the late Henry and Lillie Kasmir Pribyl. She was a homemaker, Catholic, member of the VFW Auxiliary, DAV life time member, Alcoa Retiree’s Club and SPJST.
Growing up Pauline enjoyed cooking for her family and she would hang a white towel on the roof so the family would know it was time to eat. She loved camping with family in Port Alto and Texana Flats and fishing. When she was young it cost 9 cents to go to the movies on Saturdays. She wished to grow up to Marry Hop-Along Cassidy. She has remained friends since her primary school days with Norma Liberda, they were lifelong friends in Ganado. She walked 5 miles to go to school through roads and pastures bare footed. Her highlight in life was marrying Jerry Zak and having a family. She loved family gatherings at Christmas with her daughters and their families.
She is survived by her daughters, Patsy Novak, Lillie Johnson, Jerline Cook, Barbara Thedford, Donna Slaughter and Christina Zak; brother, Leo Pribyl and 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry R. Zak; parents; brothers, Edwin and Ophanse Pribyl; 1 grandchild and 3 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Thursday, June 6, 2013, from 5-7 p.m. with a rosary to follow at 7 p.m. at Richardson-Colonial Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be Friday, June 7, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Gardens
