Colleen J. O'Brien of Port Orange went to be with her Heavenly Father on September 3, 2021. She was born in Lowell, MA and resided here in Florida since 1996. She was a registered nurse and known by many through Halifax Health, Advent Health, and Halifax Hospice. Colleen was a hard-working woman who cared deeply for her family and friends. As a nurse, she took pride in caring and healing with every human that she ever met.
Colleen was a jovial Irish woman, proud of her heritage and proud to have come from Massachusetts. Throughout her life, Colleen was able to travel to various places and she enjoyed the finer things life had to offer.
Her proudest accomplishments and greatest treasures in this life were her daughter, Jessica Starling, and her granddaughters, Ariel and Alyssa Starling. She got the most joy out of spending time with her family and being greatly involved in her granddaughters' dance competitions. Colleen's dream was to see her granddaughter, Ariel, be a shining star and continue her beautiful dancing, as Ariel is an amazingly talented young woman set for success. She also knew her granddaughter, Alyssa, might one day be in charge of a very important company, as Alyssa is smart and stands up for what is right, much like Colleen herself fought for what was right... no matter how tough she had to get. Colleen also had wonderful fun doing mother and daughter activities with Jessica, as Jessica is an extension of her, and she always loved having Jessica as her "sidekick" while going on adventures.
She is also survived by her son-in-law John Starling, brothers Richard O'Brien (Deborah) and George O'Brien (Michelle), nephews Matthew, Patrick, Barrette, Billy, and Shawn, and her lifelong family member Danny Newell. She is predeceased by her beloved brother, William O'Brien. A memorial service will be held at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange 32127, on Monday, September 13, 2021, from 5:00pm-8:00pm.
