

A Celebration of Life for David P. Gruber, 76, will be held Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 1PM at Shannon Maloney Funeral Home, 4084 Halifax Dr., Port Orange FL. Visitation will be held from 12 noon until the service led by American Legion Post 270 at 1PM. Interment will be held Tuesday afternoon at Jacksonville National Cemetery with military honors.
David died on March 28, 2016. Born in Buffalo, New York on August 31, 1939, he relocated to the Port Orange area many years ago after serving in the US Army as a paratrooper. A member of Amvets and serving as a Board Member (Trustee) of the local American Legion Post 270, David was always a character as those who knew him can attest to. Whether fishing, telling jokes, or spending time with friends and family, you never knew what would come out of David’s mouth at any given moment.
Predeceased by his wife Ruth Ann and a beloved family dog, Belle, Mr. Gruber is survived by a daughter, June Irene Millar of Port Orange, FL; five stepdaughters: Robin S. Mattison (Howard) of Ocala, Tracy L. Welch of Baltimore, MD, Sherree K. Moore of South Daytona, Cynthia A. Wilson of Springfield, TN, and Susan A. Bradley of Portland, TN; one stepson, John Welch; one brother, Donald Duane Gruber of Port Orange and two sisters, Maureen Gruber of Port Orange, and Terri Knoke of California; 12 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one niece, two grandnieces, and many friends, including close friends Joan Quagliaroli and Helen Kochanski.
