

Donald Frank Lizut, age 74, of Port Orange, FL passed away peacefully into the loving arms of the Lord on November 4, 2014 at Halifax Hospital, surrounded by his family and much love. He was a loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He was the widower of Valerie Ellen Firestone Lizut, and the eldest son of the late Shirldean Mae Gilmore Eversole and Frank Lizut. Don was born in Summerlee, WV in 1940 and moved to Muskegon, MI in 1953 where he later met his love, Valerie. They married in June of 1961 and he worked for Brunswick Corporation. He then worked for Universal Camshaft until it closed in 1983, and he moved his family to Port Orange, FL. He was employed for 24 years by Crane Cams INC. as a Metallurgical Engineer and Lab Tech, where he later retired from in 2007. He was a proud founding member of the ASM Heat Treating Society, an Affiliate Society of ASM International. He enjoyed classical music, playing the guitar, fishing, boating, walks at the City Center, telling good jokes, and watching sports and NASCAR racing on TV. He was the happiest when he was surrounded by his family and at family gatherings. He is survived by his children, Mitchell Lizut (Elizabeth) of Daytona Beach, FL, and Michelle Fox (Greg) of Edgewater, FL; Grandchildren Gregory Fox and Garrett Fox, both of Edgewater, FL; Sisters Brenda VanPelt, of Morgantown, WV, Regina Stair (Larry) of Tioga, WV, and Debra Hammer of Muskegon, MI; Brothers James Lizut, of Tioga, WV, and Gary Lizut, of Grand Haven, MI; and many special nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange, FL 32129. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Donald’s memory to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129
