

Born in Richmond, VA to John and Emma Jane Goodloe, Evelyn moved to Daytona Beach in 1961. She attended Business College, was a secretary, and worked for several companies and organizations including the Dept. of Welfare, GE, the Better Business Bureau, and Chamber of Commerce. She was a Guardian AD Litem, Toast Mistress, Mrs. Santa Claus, member of the Council on Aging and AARP. She attended Central Baptist Church and was a member of the Choir. She was politically active and worked at the Polls for every election. She enjoyed her family, reading, sewing, politics, and genealogy. She owned and operated “Rich’s Beach Wagon” on her beloved Daytona Beach. As a last gesture of caring, Evelyn donated her brain to Alzheimer’s research. She is survived by her children and their spouses Barbara (John) Godbey, John (Karen) Richardson, and Carol (Ken) Kelsay; sister, Helen Wade, 12 grand children, 10 great grand children a niece and nephew, and other family members. Her husband of 47 years, John Lloyd Richardson; daughter, Nancy Flagg; and sister, Hilda Appleby preceded her in death.
Flowers and contributions to the Alzheimer’s Foundation, or Halifax Hospice are welcomed.
The family will receive visitors Thursday, Sept 22 from 6-8:pm at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, Fl 32129. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, Sept 23 at the Volusia Memorial Funeral Home Port Orange. Internment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Daytona Beach.
