Harland D. Balch, 91, of Port Orange passed away the evening of June 21, 2017. Born in Utica, NY on September 20, 1925 to Ann and Harold Balch, Harland served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as a radio operator in the South Pacific from 1942 to 1946. He worked for NY Telephone until 1972, then transferred to Southern Bell. He retired in 1983 as Construction Manager. Harland was a member of the Elks, American Legion, VFW, and Westminster-By-The-Sea Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his spouse, Charlotte Balch and children, Deborah McMillon of Port Orange, Patricia Mrazek, Gary Balch, and Susan McCormick all of New York; stepchildren, Dawn Sanders of Deland and Dr. Diane Schaller of North Carolina; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to WBTS Presbyterian Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Shannon Maloney Funeral Home.
