A celebration service for Mary "Jane" Vandertouw, 63, of Daytona Beach, FL, who went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, November 1, 2011, will be 2:00 pm on Friday, November 11, 2011 at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 4815 Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange with the Reverend Kenneth Hope as the celebrant.
Jane was born on August 29, 1948 in Ontario, Canada, grew up in southern California and moved to the Daytona Beach area with her two daughters in 1977. Jane worked for the Florida Department of Motor Vehicles before she completed her Bachelor's Degree in Christian Counseling. At that time, she went to work for Halifax Behavioral Services as a Children's Targeted Case Manager and she retired from there in 2008. For the last 11 years, Jane was not only a mother to her 2 biological children, but also to nearly 50 foster children that were in her care over the years. As a full-time foster parent, Jane was fulfilling her life's calling to love and care for children who needed it most. Jane, also known as "Nana Jane", was admired and adored by so many because of her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, infectious cheerfulness and caring nature. Even until her home going, she was always thinking of others and wanting to give of herself. She was best described as a woman who loved the Lord, her family, friends and serving others. Her other passions in life included singing, flowers, gardening, The Holy Bible, the color pink and being a foster parent.
Jane leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two loving daughters, Anneke Vandertouw and Sonja (Rob) Bucy; brother, Jim Rouse; sister, Daryl Allen; brother, Pete Rouse. Because of her faith, Jane's family and friends take comfort in knowing that she is now with Jesus and singing with the angels.
