His funny and caring soul departed February 7, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was a proud Vietnam veteran, who served in the United States Marine Corps from “1965-1971“. His love for the Lord, his country, freedom, our constitution, family and friends were deeply immense. Following Mitchell’s honorable military service, he was a plumber in New York City. He retired after a serious accident on the job and relocated to Florida ,where he had always wanted to live with his devoted wife.
Mitchell was a dedicated and a committed husband, father, grandfather & great grandfather. He has reposed in the Lord, leaving behind his loving wife Esther DelPozo Dedes; his daughter Elizabeth “Izzy” Dedes, & Brianna Elkerdawy who was like a daughter to him; His sons Douglas Dedes, Brian Dedes and Robert Dedes as well as his daughter-in- laws, Haleigh Dedes, Natalia Dedes and Jill Dedes. He is now joined with his older son who has passed Mitchell R Dedes and his niece Lisa Pollack. Mitchell also left behind his last living sibling, his sister Patricia Pollack, nephews: Kevin Heaney, Eddie Vallely, Billy Dedes; nieces: Jennifer Heaney, Kimberly Dedes, Melissa Pollack, Debbie and Donna; along with his grandchildren: Mak Dedes, Vanessa and her husband Angel, Amanda, Damaris, Lexie, Michael, Anthony, Mitchell, Lil’Brian, Justin, Mitch Maverick, and David and great grand children: Amarah, Madison & Amelia.
Mitchell’s big heart, dedication, love for his family was what he lived for. He was a fighter who overcame so many medical obstacles that most people would never have lived through. His strength and faith gave our family another six years with him. Withstanding multiple heart surgeries, including a clinical trial heart procedure that ultimately saved his life. Mitchell was loved and respected by everyone he knew. He was the life of the party and had an extremely funny sense of humor. He enjoyed going to the gun range and fishing. Most of all, he enjoyed and love his family more than anything. Our hearts are broken because we are left trying to figure out how to live in this world without him. We know that the Lord will give us strength to move forward, continue living and making him proud. May he rest in eternal peace with our Lord and savior Jesus Christ, along with all our loved ones and his brothers whom passed on. Mitchell was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Now you are at peace, no more pain, no more medicine, no more suffering. Until we meet again, “To live in the hearts of those we love is not to die” Revelations 21.4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, not crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Friends and family will gather together on Sunday, February 23, from 12 pm to 4 pm at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home - Port Orange, 4815 S. Clyde Morris Blvd, Port Orange, FL 32129, for a visitation and celebration of Mitchell's life. Military honors will be rendered the following day, with interment taking place at 1:30 pm on Monday, February 24, at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, Mims, FL.
