June 18, 1935 – February 2, 2025
Norene J. Eddy was born in Allentown, PA, to her loving parents Carl and Geraldine Montgomery. She had 1 sister – Patricia (Pat), and 3 brothers – Neil, Keith, and Hugh. All of her siblings have predeceased Norene.
Norene married John Eddy in 1968. They moved to South Daytona after Johnny retired. Johnny died on 10/22/2007, however, Norene remained in South Daytona where she had become deeply embedded in community activities, especially the Christian Women’s Connection and the CrossRoads Church in South Daytona.
Norene’s journey in life was filled with family, extended family, and an abundance of friends. Truly Norene collected friends everywhere she went. She had a wonderful smile, a terrific spirit, and a tremendous sense of humor that drew so many of all ages to her.
Norene loved to write letters and cards to everyone she knew! There was seldom a time that she was in her chair without having a pad of paper and matching envelopes close by. This was so Norene – she loved people and did her best to stay in touch with everyone she could. As she got older and her hearing diminished, writing became even more important for her to use since understanding what others said had become too difficult for her.
Her greatest passion, without a doubt, was her relationship with God. She was proud to be a Christian, she frequently read the Bible and would pray many times throughout the day. In fact, while she was in the hospice center in failing health, as our group was leaving her in the evening, she had us gather around her bed; we all held hands connecting to hers as she gave a beautiful prayer in which she said to God that if you call, I will come… and she did. Norene died the next morning. We all know where Norene is today.
Rest in Peace, sweet Norene, you are so dearly missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at CrossRoads Church, 1851 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange FL 32119 on Friday, February 21, at 11:00 am.
