

Phyllis M. Savoie, 94, was born March 24, 1931 in Oxnard, California and died January 14, 2026. She was a resident of Port Orange, Florida and lived in Crane Lakes, where she and her late husband, Mel, had been residents since 2000.
Although Phyllis was born in Oxnard, she lived for several years on the family ranch in Ojai, California. She returned to Oxnard, graduating from Santa Clara High School - receiving a special diploma in music in 1948. She then went to work for the Navy for several years until she met her future husband, Melvin (Mel) Savoie, then in the Air Force, at a dance in Oxnard and married in February 1952. Her first son Mark was born in 1955 followed by her second son Kurt in 1956. Phyllis concentrated on raising her family until she returned to work as Secretary at the US Travel Service/ Department of Commerce in the mid-60's. She continued working until the late 70's when she and Mel moved to Sanford, Florida to open Mel's lifelong dream of opening a restaurant. After several years, the restaurant sold and Phyllis returned to the workforce at Starline Ambulance Company and then at a Assisted Living Facility. She then retired from work and was able to pursue her interests, which included the piano and organ and knitting and crocheting.
Phyllis has been reunited in Heaven with Mel, who passed in 2004, and Mark, who passed in 2018. Phyllis is survived by her son, Kurt and granddaughter, Genny both residing in Charlottesville, Virginia and granddaughter, Hannah who lives in Gainesville, Florida.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 8:30am at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, 4675 S. Clyde Morris Blvd., Port Orange FL 32129. A reception will be held following the mass in the church social hall.
