Richard F. Davis

Richard F. Davis, a man whose life was as vibrant as it was impactful, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2025, in Port Orange, Florida, at the age of 83. Born on December 29, 1941, in Providence, Rhode Island, Richard was a devoted husband, father, and friend who lived a life filled with service, love, and laughter.

Rick proudly served his country for 23 years as a First Sergeant in the U.S. Army's "Special Forces." His commitment to his nation was unwavering, and his achievements in the military were a testament to his dedication and courage. During his service, Rick pursued higher education, earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Columbia College in Missouri, a testament to his belief in the power of knowledge.

He found joy in the depths of the ocean as a certified scuba instructor, sharing his passion for the sea with others. Rick's post-retirement years were marked by a love of softball, working out in the gym and the camaraderie of his Tuesday "lunch bunch" with the guys. Always ready with a helping hand, Rick’s kindness and generosity left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Rick is survived by his beloved wife of 24 years, Andrea, and his children: Mike Davis and his wife Greta, Kathy Davis Robinson, Cheryl Davis Merritt and her husband Keith, Shannon Galbreath and her husband Brendan, David Scott and his wife Marin, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, George Washington Davis and Helen Ida Allen, his brother George N. Davis and his wife Hattie, and his sister Beverly F. Orazem.

A celebration of Rick’s remarkable life will take place on June 8, 2025, at 3:00 pm at the Riverside Pavilion, 3431 S Ridgewood Ave, Port Orange, FL 32129. The gathering will be catered by Aunt Catfish, ensuring a warm and welcoming atmosphere as we remember a man who touched so many lives.

Rick's spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by all who knew him. His legacy of service, love, and kindness will continue to inspire those he leaves behind.
