

Roger was born on November 2, 1950, in Brooklyn, New York, the son of Patricia (Murdy) Kandetzke and Harold Kandetzke. He graduated from St. John's Prep High School in 1968 and went on to attend Fordham University from 1968 to 1972.
Roger proudly served in the United States Army, joining in 1970 and being honorably discharged in 1976. His career then took a unique turn, as he joined Billy Joel Productions in 1976 as the road and stage manager during Billy Joel’s first major tour. Roger went on to have a distinguished career as Senior Vice President of International Services at Reliable Van and Storage, where he worked for over 40 years before retiring in April 2025.
On September 20, 1980, Roger married Donna L. Heaney in Staten Island, New York. They shared 42 years of marriage before Donna’s passing in August 2023. Roger is survived by his two sons, Eric and Ryan; his brothers, Glenn and Robert; his sister-in-law, Kathy; and his nieces and nephews: Laura, Keith, Rob, Phil, Kassandra, and Kevin.
Roger had a deep love for music, baseball, football, fishing, and boating. He spent many years coaching his sons in various sports, creating lasting memories of fatherly guidance and love. Roger was also especially fond of fishing and socializing with his father-in-law, Jimmy "The Captain," enjoying many decades of camaraderie.
He also cherished spending time with his close friends and son Ryan, watching sports and attending local live band performances. A regular part of his daily life was enjoying golf cart rides with his beloved dog, Bailey.
Roger was an honorary lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the NRA. He is survived by many close first cousins, friends, and extended family, all of whom hold dear the countless memories they shared with him.
Roger's legacy lives on through his family and the many who knew him as a loving husband, father, and friend. He will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know him.
