Ruth Moore passed away peacefully Sunday morning, December 10, 2023. She was born in Binghamton, NY, to Marian and Charles Kirchner. She is predeceased by her brother, Charles Jr. ("Bus") and her parents.
As a young woman, Ruth was a server at Poland Springs Resort in Maine where she met her husband. George proposed on their second date and they were married 61 years until his death in April 2011. They lived in Warwick and Coventry, Rhode Island, for 25 years. They then retired to Florida, as is required in New England.
She is survived by her 2 sons: Gary (Liz) and Rick (Ruth), 5 grandsons: Nathan (Rhonda), Christopher (Jen), Gary Jr. (Jenn), Jeffrey (Kristie), and Brian (Kelly); 7 great-grandchildren, her adopted family Mayra and Enrique Silva and their children Tanya and Erick, nieces, nephews and so many others that she loved who called her "grandma", as well as a multitude of friends.
Ruth was kind, loving and social. She never met a stranger, bringing people she met on airplanes, at parties, in the doctor's office, anywhere really into her "family". She loved to travel, sew, paint, cook, and entertain. Her specialities were shrimp and clam linguini, sopas and sauerbraten accompanied by chilled Chardonnay or Margaritas with extra lime.
Ruth was active in the Elks of Deltona and Port Orange, and an active member of New Hope Baptist Church. She is well known in the Crane Lakes community for her comedy performances with the Crane Lakes Community players. Her roles included: Cooking with Lupita (think a Mexican Julia Childs), Lucille Ball, Lily Tomlin, Carol Burnett, Minnie Pearl.
A Celebration of LIfe will be held locally in Crane Lakes at a later date and in Rhode Island as she joins George in the Veteran's Cemetery.
