It is with profound sadness to share Thomas (Tommy) Purnell Willis III, 89, passed away from illness with grace and dignity on January 14, 2025, in Port Orange, Florida. We are comforted to know he is with Jesus. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Sharon Swearingen Willis, three children - Thomas Kenneth Willis, Wimberly Willis Kniesler (Dan), and George Clifton Willis (Becky) and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, a goddaughter, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and uncle.
Tommy was a proud graduate of Bass High School in Atlanta, Georgia, class of 1953, and the University of Georgia where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in 1957. He served as an educator at Bass High School and Sylvan High School. Tommy began his career of 54 years in the insurance claims industry. He retired from the Crawford & Company in Atlanta, Georgia.
Tommy loved golf, fishing, reading, and being with his family and friends. He was a devoted sports fan, coach, and was a UGA Bulldog and Ole Miss Rebels enthusiast.
