Born in Chittenango, NY, Wayne served honorably in the U.S. Army from December 1965 until December 1967 including portions as a guard in Korea at the DMZ (demilitarized zone). Upon his return to the States, he worked for the Carrier Corporation in New York, and later the Crane Company in Florida.
Wayne loved hunting up north with his brother-in-law, and fishing and golfing in Florida with his son. Over the last few years he focused on his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sharon, his sister Cora (NY), brother Merrille (NY), his children Michele Eggert and Michael Delamater, and his grandchildren who include Danielle Merritt, Michael Eggert, Kateri Eggert, and Bristol Salyers. He additionally has 3 great-grandchildren.
Wayne’s last few days were at Halifax Medical Center in Port Orange. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who took care of him on the 4th floor, ICU, and the ER.
