

Adriana was born in Palombaro, Abruzzi, Italy, coming to the United States with her parents and older sister after World Word II. They lived in Alexandria, VA, then returned to Italy for a few years before settling on Secor Avenue in the Bronx, New York. She attended Evander Childs Public School in the Bronx, and enjoyed confraternity dances in high school, and one day met her husband, John Schrade. Adriana and John married in 1966, and moved to Seton Ave in the Bronx. Adriana worked at Metropolitan Life Insurance in Manhattan before starting a family. Adriana and John moved to Willingboro, New Jersey in 1970, and then Medford, New Jersey in 1977, before retiring to Port St. Lucie, FL.
Adriana was an incredible cook, and aside from her family, her greatest pleasure in life was hosting family and friends around her table. Adriana also enjoyed following Republican politics, and listening and dancing to music, especially Elvis Presley. She was an expert shopper, and scored amazing deals. Adriana also worked as a companion for the elderly, whose families often became lifelong friends.
Adriana was preceded in death by her father, Celestino DeSanto, her mother, Alicia Bontempi DeSanto, her dear sister, Marida Mennella, her beloved grandparents Mario and Ida Bontempi, brother-in-law, Gerard Mennella, sister-in-law, Cathy Salerno, brother-in-law Dr. Nick Salerno, cousins, John and Mary Taylor, brother-in-law, Larry Heubel, brother-in-law, George Schrade, and brother-in-law, Frank Schrade.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, John Schrade, daughter, Kate Brennan (Michael Kelly) of Warwick, RI, son, Nick Schrade of Medford, NJ, grandson, David Schrade, granddaughter, Clare Schrade, nephew, John Mennella, like-a-daughter, Janice Heinold, sister-in-law, Mary Ann Heubel, sister-in-law, Martha Schrade, many beloved nephews and nieces, and dear friends.
The family will have a private viewing. A memorial service will be held at the South Florida National Cemetery in Wellington, FL, on April 28, 2025 at 12:30 pm.
