She is the beloved mother of JoAnn Russo LaConte, Carol Ann Russo Lombardo, Toni-Lynn Russo Vasiliadis, and Nancy Russo Borges. She was the wife of her late beloved husband of 70 years. He was the love of her life. She is also survived by grandson William “Billy” Vasiliadis, who brought joy to her every moment of her life, granddaughters, Tamara Metatos and Heather Graziani; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is reunited with her husband, daughter, JoAnn Metatos, brother Frank Martino, granddaughter Danielle Metatos, along with her mother and father, Mary and Emilio Martino.
As her family in Heaven rejoices, her family here will remember her with love, honor, respect and thankfulness.
Born and raised in Bridgeport, CT, she raised her family, worked for the city of Bridgeport before moving to Florida in 1985 and still continued lifelong relationships with friends and family.
Her most favorite things were spending time with family, cooking, watching “Days of our Lives”, bingo, Rummique, slots, puzzles, reading and music. Over the years she volunteered caring for school age children – babies were her specialty. She belonged to everything from bowling leagues to Knights of Columbus, Moose Lodge and always offering herself where ever she was.
Special thanks to dear friends of Mom for praying with her and being loyal to her over her lifetime.
She will be greatly missed but always remembered, especially for her awesome smile, fun loving spirit, compassion for others, trust worthiness and giving of herself to all so selflessly.
We are blessed and thankful to the “Dove Team” at Hospice for making Mom’s transition, beautiful giving support, kindness, understanding personal service and professionalism.
In lieu of flowers, her favorite charities were the Cancer Foundation, St. Jude’s Children Hospital and Treasure Coast Hospice.
Arrangements are entrusted to Aycock Funeral Home, Byrd, Young & Prill Chapel, Port St. Lucie, FL.
