Daniel Joseph Sullivan passed away at Tradition Medical Center in Port St. Lucie, Florida, on February 16, 2016, with his wife, daughters, granddaughter, and sister by his side. He worked and travelled for his business until days before his death, which was due the underlying heart disease he had been bravely battling for the last three years of his life.
Daniel was born in the Bronx, New York to Daniel Joseph Sullivan and Kathleen Genevieve McGovern Sullivan on November 25, 1949, the second of four children. The family moved to Glen Rock, New Jersey in 1951 and Dan graduated from Saint Catharine’s Elementary School and Saint Joseph’s Regional High School, class of 1967. He graduated from Manhattan College in 1971 and went on to pursue a career as a CPA that led the family to reside for years in Korea, Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and India and him to travel for business to Asia, Europe, South America, Australia, and Africa.
As a child living in Glen Rock, Dan met Millicent Jane McIntosh, and they wed in 1972 going on to share forty-three years of marriage. Together they had two daughters, Marianne and Kathleen, who lived with them in Asia as Dan pursued his career. Kathleen’s daughter, Addison Harris, was born in 1998 and was the light of his life in his later years.
Dan began working as an auditor for KPMG US and later moved to Johnson & Johnson, Ciba Geigy, Bayer Healthcare, and Siemens Healthcare from which he retired in 2013. Retirement could not slow him down and in 2014 he started his business, Sullivan International Business Strategies, Inc. Dan was President of the American Club in Hong Kong and the founding member of Lakewood Golf Club in Shenzhen, China. He was also a member of the American Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong. He was an international financial executive who loved travel, business, politics, movies, and sports, but what is loved most was his family. His knowledge and experience was broad and deep but he loved nothing more than going to a local diner with his family to share a simple meal.
Dan is survived by his wife Millicent Jane McIntosh Sullivan of Port St. Lucie his daughters, Kathleen Sullivan of Port St. Lucie and Marianne Sullivan of Tampa, Florida, his granddaughter, Addison Harris, of Port St. Lucie, his sister, Kathleen Boos (John) of Oakland, California, his brother, John Sullivan of Palisades Park, New Jersey, his brother-in-law, Tony McIntosh (Delores) of Seattle, Washington his brother-in-law, Jim McIntosh (Luisa) of Toms River , New Jersey , Sister in Law Wendy McIntosh of Ridgewood, New Jersey. and his nieces and nephews, Nicholas Boos (Joia), Michael Boos, Renata Vallach (Glenn), Christina Boos, Ingrid Cooper (Michael), Michael McIntosh (Ellie), David McIntosh (Susan), Dr. Joseph McIntosh (Shannon), Melissa Horn (Rob), Tracy McIntosh and several grand nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother Eugene Gerard Sullivan and brother in Law David McIntosh
His life will always be cherished and always in our hearts.
