Jerry was born in Havana, Cuba and emigrated to the US with his family where they settled in Port Chester, New York. Jerry joined the US Army and went on to fight in the Vietnam war. He later married his high school sweetheart and settled in Greenwich, Connecticut. Jerry eventually enjoyed retirement in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.
Jerry was a well known local builder who enjoyed many sporting hobbies through the years including car racing, motorcycles, softball, and hunting. He was an avid pigeon racer, and had a questionable golf game! Jerry had the most adventurous spirit and never turned down a challenge. His big personality lit up the room and his infectious smile and laugh will be genuinely missed by so many. Jerry’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He loved to travel and recently, with his wife, children, and grandchildren he visited Cuba where he shared his birthplace and early memories.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 53 years, Barbara Lorenzo (Sienkiewicz), daughters Lori Hebert, and Karyn (Robert) Willmann. He also leaves behind his beloved grandchildren, Joshua, Abbey, Grace, and Olivia as well as his sister in law Marylee, nephew Daniel (Courtney) and his niece Amy (Aaron). Jerry will be very missed by his life long “posse” of friends, Jerry, Bert, Michael, Alex, and Frank. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Mario and Lazara, his brother Chas, his nephew Mark, and his precious grandchild Jacob Willmann.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Aycock Funeral Home in Tradition, Florida on Saturday February 20th, 4:00-6:00pm.
