He was born in Covington, Kentucky in 1933 to Charles and Catherine Eha, and was their eighth child and fifth son. Louis, or Lou, attended and graduated from the Covington Latin School before joining the Air Force and serving with Top Secret status in the Korean War.
Lou married Mary Elizabeth Nichols on November 12, 1955. They had four children together: Randy, Vickie, Gary, and Teri.
After his military service, Lou studied at the University of Cincinnati and worked as an engineer for 28 years at General Electric Aviation in Evandale, Ohio. After moving his family to Florida, Lou worked an additional 13 years for Pratt and Whitney Aircraft in West Palm Beach, Florida. Although he primarily worked research and design and quality control of commercial and military jet engines and rocket propulsion systems, Lou distinguished himself for his ability to troubleshoot and remedy problems with jet engines when others could not.
He was recognized and honored for saving both military and commercial contracts that would amount to billions of dollars in today’s currency. He never bragged about any of this.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, his siblings and their spouses, and is survived by his wife of over 68 years, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity, Word on Fire Catholic Ministries (https://www.wordonfire.org/) would be greatly appreciated.
