

Renee Anne-Marie Madeleine Jacques, age 96 passed away peacefully December 26, 2020. She was born on October 31, 1924 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Andre Maignan and Madeleine Perodin-Maignan. She married her longtime love Jean Lionel Jacques on August 27, 1953 who preceded her death in 2012.
As matriarch she is survived by her five children Carole Jacques DeJean, Elsie Denerville, Frantz Jacques, Eveline Lezeau and Lionel Jacques; nine grandchildren Melissa Jacques-Sicard, Regine Denerville, Jonathan Jacques, Sergeine Lezeau, Michael Jacques, Jovin Lezeau, Leonard Jacques, Daniel Jacques and predeceased Roger A. Gabart DeJean; three great grandchildren Angelo DeJean, Keira Jacques and Noah Jacques.
Renee was a smart, beautiful, gracious and kind hearted woman who graduated from High School in Haiti, was selected as Queen in a Haitian Beauty Pageant, ran her own small business, worked as a store manager and raised a successful family. She immigrated to NYC from Haiti on December 23, 1968 and moved her entire family encouraging them to complete their education in the US for a rewarding life. She later became a born-again Christian Catholic and moved from NYC to Florida in 1996 where she earned her citizenship in May 2001.
She lived her life with a big heart and caring nature as she showed love to her family, neighbors, friends and strangers as a living example of the Bible verse “Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud” 1 Corinthians 13:4 NLT.
