Daryl, Paula, and extended family:

Roger was a kind and patient man for putting up with me and all of Daryl's friends from Glocester (and Foster) from the ages of about 10 up into our 20's.... Paula too,   I hope you are doing as well as one can in these darker days.

Crystal and I will be attending the celebration of Rogers life on August 20.

We really enjoyed our visit to Maryland when Roger and Paula first moved there. How excited Rob was to spend that time with his brother. And the kids enjoyed it too. ❤️

We had a wonderful time when we went to a disney in 2009. Sweet memories. ❤️

Steven and Denise will attend August 20th memorial in RI 

Norman and Roger shared a lifetime of memories. Roger was Norman's childhood friend.  Norm loves to share the story of how they joined the Navy together in the "Buddy system" during the Vietnam War.  They attended "A" School together but Norman was sent off for some dental work and they did not see each other for the next 4 years.  Some "Buddy system".    We have many warm memories of get together's with Paula and Roger.  We will miss Roger and his great cooking talents.  I always remember how Paula's beautiful smile would light up when she was around Roger.  They truly loved and cared for each other.  Keeping Paula and the family in prayer.  Norman and I and Norman's sister, Janice Gauvin,  will be attending the Memorial Service in August. -   Lori and Norman Tremblay

We are looking forward to being able to give you all a big hug in person and celebrate Uncle Roger. Danny, myself and the kids will be there and let us know if we can bring anything or be helpful in any way. XO Dan, Desi, Elias, Isaiah, & Sophia 

Roger, When I look at our family, I feel blest by our tight kinships. Losing you, hurts as it did for Marie, Rob, Mom, Dad and our grandparents. Each passing has left a unique vacancy in my heart.  I’m blessed with those memories that have shaped and influenced me along the way.  
Roger, as the oldest of our siblings, you have left an undeniable legacy.  From my personal perspective, you epitomize that role in our family’s pecking order.  Roger, you have always encouraged, mentored and been a huge support in my life.  You championed learning and emphasized a good education.  You supported dream aspirations with a sense of optimistic realism. Many of my victories in life were also yours. I recall a time when I was called out to the pitcher’s mound for the first time. You were there to witness me strike out the side as the team chanted “he’s the best pitcher we got”. I could see you beam with pride.  As for me that was the best outing, I had that year (LOL).  Early on in my songwriting endeavor’s you pitched one of my songs to someone who had connections with Dolly Parton that you knew.  The song never went anywhere, but brother you stuck your neck out on my behalf.  Bottom line, I could sense you cherish my successes as if they were your own.  What a great big brother.
There were years between us, but we could wisecrack and horse around like typical brothers do, but held a respect factor, you were the oldest. Speaking of horsing around… It’s “Curtain”, not “Curtin” Roger.   My perspective of you, is through a child’s eyes and through a grownup’s eyes. Both perspectives are cherished and helped me evolve.  I’m even starting to do a little cooking. Yes! I can hear your voice offering me culinary advice, “cup your fingers to keep the knife away from your fingers”.
I will miss you Roger and will cherish the memories we’ve made, till I see you in heaven.  Enjoy the loved ones who have already arrived and may you rest in peace brother.

Visiting our dear friends Dave and Sherry Scott at their home in Fernandina Beach, Amelia Island.  We had a wonderful visit.

I met Roger when he and Paula came to visit Daryl in LA. There were three or four of us roommates sharing a house at the time and they treated us all like we were family. I looked forward to getting home from work in the evenings to go hang out while they were in town. Roger always had something interesting to talk about and he emanated a gentle kindness. I’m glad I got the chance to swap stories and break bread with Roger and Paula.

Roger feeling well enough last year to play golf. I will miss my golf partner. ❤

Enjoying a day by the water in Solomons, MD. He loved being near and on the water, beach not his favorite but would go with me.

A wonderful summer visit to Swan Point with Roger and my Sister.  He was an amazing host.  We had so much fun in Fredericksburg and at the Swan Point Club house.  You will be missed brother-in-law.   Love always.  

Jerry and I and the family visited Rhode Island in 1993. That was the first time I met Roger. He made the most delicious fish dish. Jerry Vezina  (Who passed away in 2006) was so excited to see his cousins again. Everyone showed us a great time seeing the state of Rhode Island. 
It was so great to see Roger and Paula when they would visit the family in California such great memories. My Daughter Julie has become very close with her cousin Daryl. And I am saddened that when Paula and Roger came out the last time, I was unable to see them. My sympathies to Paula and the family.

I got to know Roger by genealogy research. It turns out our mothers were cousins (Rita Vézina and Claire Vézina). We chatted at some point through Facebook but I never got the chance to meet him in person. To his wife, his children, and to his family my deepest condolences. 

My deepest condolences to you all. I’ll never forget the first Super Bowl game I watched with Daryl and Roger. The endless questions I had I’m sure were distracting, but something I’ll always remember.  Amazing guy I’ll always remember- love you all!

Dear Paula. Ed and I are so very sorry to hear that Roger had been so sick and now has left this earth. We pray he is now rejoicing with  our Lord.

He is survived by his loving wife Paula McNeal Fontenault and children: Sherry (Garry) Getchell, Beth (James) Corrente, Kristin (Roody) Chevry and Daryl Fontenault; grandchildren: Nicholas (Sarah) Getchell, Caitlyn (Robert) Smith, Samuel (Sydney) Corrente, Noah Corrente, Christopher Lees, and Victoria Lees; great grandchildren: Devon Morris, Melanie Morris and Crue Lees; three brothers, Ronald (Shirley) Fontenault, Normand Fontenault and Raymond (Donna) Fontenault; and many other beloved close relatives. Preceded in death by his brother Robert Fontenault and sister Marie Fontenault.
