Angelina Susan Libby, 66, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 26, 2023. The daughter of Matthew Colello Sr. and Doris (Gemmel) Colello she was born in Portland Maine and raised on Munjoy Hill. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School. She started her career in the financial service sector after graduation from high school. Over the years she worked for several firms as a registered financial assistant. She initiated the opening of the Raymond James financial branch in Portland, where she was the operating and branch manager for 17 years, before retiring in January of 2022. The advisors and associates at RJ were her second family. She cared for and loved them dearly, and they her. She was their “mother hen”.
Angie enjoyed many trips to the wilderness of northern Maine, canoeing the Allagash River 4 times , Lobster lake , and upper Richardson Lake. She made many fond memories at her brother Jim’s camp on Moosehead Lake in Rockwood, including snowmobiling, ice fishing, and just relaxing. We had many good times with great friends. Her latest passion was golfing with her “buddies”
She was everyone’s favorite “auntie, a “Nonna”, to six beautiful grandchildren, and a “sista” to many who didn’t have one. She was a wonderful daughter to her parents and wonderful sister to her four brothers.
Angie was a warm, passionate, giving person, always a smile on her face, and a happy heart. She could light up the room. After her father passed away, her mother lived with her for 23 until she passed in May of 2020. They enjoyed playing cards together, going to bingo and breakfast every Saturday morning.
There are not enough words to describe this wonderful woman, or how much love she shared with others. She will be sadly missed by many.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband Gary of 35 years. Her son Jeremiah Libby and his wife Janeace of Cranberry PA, her daughter Jamie Doucette of South Portland, six lovely grandchildren, four brothers Lenny Colello of Summerfield FL, James Colello of Buxton, Matt Colello of Florida, and Peter Colello of Portland.
Family and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Monday, March 6, 2023 from 4-7 PM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 11:30 AM followed by a committal service at New Calvary Cemetery in South Portland. A reception will follow the committal service back at the funeral home.
