

Portland-Chester Arthur Ham Sr. “Stubs” of Portland died Saturday October 20, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital. He was born in Portland on January 29, 1927 the son of Edwin and Annie Martin Ham. He was one of sixteen brothers and sisters. Chester served our country in the US Army during World War II and the Korean War. He was a recipient of The Purple Heart. Chester married Geraldine Weymouth and they spent 60 plus years of marriage together. After his service to our country, he worked for the City of Portland for over thirty years. Everyone knew him as “Hammy”. He also worked as a brick layer and at the Riverside Dump for many years. He was a loving and caring Father with a great sense of humor.
Chester is survived by his wife Geraldine of Portland, four sons Chester Jr. of Portland, Robert of Brunswick, Richard and Julie of Westbrook, and John of Portland, three grandchildren Amy LaCourse of Sanford, Amanda Paul of Florida, and Tyler Carey of Gorham, and five Great Grandchildren.
Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a time of visitation on Thursday October 25 from 4 to 7 P.M. in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland. Funeral services will be Friday at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home. Interment will be at a later date in Forest City Cemetery in South Portland.
