Clara Richards

She was born on August 28, 1924 in Naugatuck, CT the daughter of Otto and Dora (Nissen) Messner. She graduated from Dexter High School. She was married to Clyde Richards for 67 years before his passing in 2012 and together they raised a family of 3 sons.

Clara worked for the Dexter School System in their lunch program and truly loved working with all the children that she came across daily. When she wasn’t working she was either reading, watching her favorite team the Red Sox, or assisting her husband writing fiction and non-fiction books. What Clara enjoyed the most was spending time with her family and the things that they enjoyed.

She is survived by her sons Larry of New Jersey, Robert of Arizona, and Dennis and his wife Patricia of Gray; 8 Grandchildren Wesley, Marnie, Max, Hilary, Bailey, Malory, Sarah, and Matthew; 5 great grandchildren; her sister Dorothy of Connecticut; 3 brothers Don of Pittsburgh, Bill of Connecticut, and Dick of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her husband Clyde in 2012.
