

Constance M. Rutherford, 75, passed away peacefully April 6, 2012 at Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born September 30, 1936 she was the youngest of seven children born to Konstantinos (Charles) Koulovatos and Margaret (Malone) Koulavatos. Connie attended the Rosa E. True Elementary, Butler Grammar and Portland High School, graduating in the class of 1954.
On September 5, 1959 she married Warren (Rudy) Rutherford at Sacred heart Church in Portland. Mr. Rutherford passed away in May of 2005.
A life-long resident of Portland, she was often seen ice-skating on Deering Oaks Pond. Crowds would gather to watch her grace the ice. She was a devoted "Bulldog" fan with all three sons playing football, baseball and hockey. Connie was a devoted booster member for years, participating in the fundraiser known to many as "Portland Deering High Athletic Thanksgiving Dance". She won the "Bob Ganley" Award in 2007 for her dedication to PHS athletics.
Surviving are her four children: Deborah and her husband Dennis Dunham of Casco, Warren (Jamie) and his wife Rosemarie of Horseheads, NY., Michael and his wife Robin of Portland and Sean and his wife Kimberly of Saco; grandchildren: Samantha, Nicholas and Jessica of Horseheads; Megan, Katie, Domenic, Gianna and Arianna of Portland and Matthew and Nathan of Saco; her brother John and his wife Mary of Ellsworth, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her family she was blessed with wonderful friends such as Roberta Snow Platts, Anna McCrossin Cameron and Carolyn (May) Cram Payne (The 4 G.C.'s friends from the age of 5), Carol Ross Mikkelsen, Judy Lee and many others.
In addition to her parents, Connie was predeceased by her sisters (and spouses): Mary Cicero and husband Frank, Anne Sellers and husband Walter, and Peggy Cicero and husband John, her brothers (and spouses): Alexander and Teresa and James and Lee.
The family would like to thank all of the staff at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House for their extraordinary compassion, kindness and empathy.
Family and friends are invited to a time of Visitation from 4-8 Monday April 23 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins 199 Woodford St. Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 am Tuesday April 24, 2012 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church 1342 Congress St. Portland.
