David was raised in the Bronx where he attended P.S. 102. JHS 127, and graduated from James Monroe High School. He met Tina Alston in 1978 and from their union came his one and only daughter, Paris Stokes. She was his pride and joy. He lived in NY for the majority of his life until he moved to Portland, Maine. There he worked a long time job at Maine Medical Center until he became ill.
David was a strong, independent man. He was kind and sweet but he didn't take no mess. Don't get on his bad side (lol). He enjoyed listening to music and fishing was one of his favorite hobbies. He was the type of person who said what he meant and meant what he said. But it was done out of love. And Lord knows David hated politics. His infectious smile will definitely be missed.
David leaves to cherish his memories, his one and only daughter Paris Stokes, His grandchildren Chasity and Chase, His step-son Ryan Kraft and his favorite guy Shabar Alston. He also leaves siblings Robert, Clay, Allen, Charles, Betty, Violet and Carol. He is survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.jonesrichandbarnes.com for the Stokes family.
