

Donald M. Blanchard passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Father’s Day, June 19, 2011 with friends and family at his side. He was born January 6, 1941 in Freeport, Maine son of Donald D. Blanchard and Elizabeth M. Dow. Donald attended Falmouth schools and received his GED. He served with the United States Navy from 1959 to 1963. On September 19, 1964 he married the former Joyce M. DiSanto of Cumberland. They had one daughter, Rebecca Dawn. Donald was employed by Shaw’s for 20 years retiring in 2001. Known as Donnie or “The Captain” to his friends, he loved the three B’s-
Burgers, Beans and Boats. He looked forward to parties and pot luck suppers with “The Group” he will be sorely missed at the shop. Donnie was a helper to friends, and family as well as strangers.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his sister Marie E. Wilson.
Donald is survived by his wife Joyce M. Blanchard of Portland, His daughter Rebecca D. Chadbourne of Lewiston, his grandson Tanner S. Chadbourne (Papa’s Tanner man), his sisters Jean Griffin of Portland and Donna Pesce and her husband Mike of Saco, His brother Jon H. Blanchard and his wife Dorothy of Windham and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
There will be a graveside service for Donald on Saturday June 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at the Blanchard Cemetery, on Winn Road in W. Falmouth to be followed by a Celebration of Life at the West Cumberland United Methodist Church Hall on Methodist Road. Everyone is welcome to attend both services.
