Edward “Eddie” A. Stanhope, Jr., age 45 of Windham formerly of Portland died unexpectedly Saturday evening August 19, 2017 in Hollis from injuries he sustained from a motorcycle accident.
He was born December 31, 1971 in Portland son of Edward & Judith McCarthy Stanhope. He attended Portland schools including PRVTC where he studied plumbing and heating. He also attended CMMC taking a 160 hour course. Ed then went to work for his grandfather Bud McCarthy as an apprentice and continued work in the HVAC industry. At the time of his death Eddie was employed by Patriot Mechanical of Gorham.
Eddie was the founder and currently President of the Hooligan Bike Riders a non-profit motorcycle club that support abused and disabled children.
He is predeceased by his father in 2014, grandfather, Maurice (Bud) McCarthy, and grandparents; Alan & Antoinette Stanhope.
Eddie leaves his beloved son Zachary Stanhope his pride & joy of Kennebunk, his mother Judith “Judy” Stanhope of Portland, a sister, Jodi Stailing and nephew Scott Stailing both of Portland, and his grandmother, Mary McCarthy of Portland.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a time of visitation Sunday August 27, 2017 from 2 to 5 PM at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Prayers will be recited Monday August 28, 2017 at 10:15AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM at St. Pius X Catholic Church. Interment will be private.
