

Old Orchard Beach long time resident, Floyd L Devou Jr. 64, beloved husband of Donna Stilphen Devou, his wife of 20 years, died at his home after a courageous battle with cancer on July 2, 2011.
He was born in Portland, Maine, June 14, 1947 to Floyd L. Devou Sr. and Phyllis Hamilton Devou. At age 17 he joined and proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War.
Throughout his life he enjoyed and excelled at many sports such as; baseball, basketball and track.
In 1993 Floyd retired after 10 years as Deputy Sheriff at Cumberland County Sheriff’s Department.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Floyd was highly respected for his strong work ethic. He was courageous, and a pillar of strength. His generosity, quiet wisdom and devotion to helping family and friends in need touched countless people.
Floyd was predeceased by his beloved father Floyd L. Devou Sr. and sons Floyd L. Devou III and Shawn M. Anderson.
He is survived by his loving mother Phyllis Devou of Cape Elizabeth, son Christopher Devou and wife Sarin and two Granddaughters Rianna and Brooklyn, of Portland, and son Dennis Anderson and wife Nicole and their son Devin, and grandson Shawn, also four siblings, William and wife Linda of Westbrook; Gregory and his wife Debra of Baltimore, Maryland; Deborah of South Portland, and Rhonda Boutin and husband Richard, of South Portland.
A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held Thursday July 7 at 11:30 am from the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. The Rev Jeffrey McIlwain will officiate.
