

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - G. William "Bill" Chaplin, 78, of Marco Island, Fla.; summer resident of Wickford, R.I.; and formerly of Foxboro, Mass., died suddenly on Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2017, at Rhode Island Hospital.
Bill was born in Gardner, Mass., on May 30, 1939, the son of the late Harold and Louise Devine Chaplin.
Bill graduated from Deering High School, Boston University, and received his master's degree in education from Bridgewater State University.
He was a longtime educator in the Foxboro, Mass., school system as director of music, before leaving public education to pursue a corporate educational career.
He was predeceased by his sister, Denise Skillings (Howard), of Portland.
Besides his beloved wife of 55 years, Carolyn Rozzi Chaplin, of Marco Island, he leaves two sons, Steven, and his wife Jen, of Dudley, Mass.; and Scott, and his wife Stephanie, of San Diego, Calif. He was the devoted grandfather to Brady, of San Diego, Calif.; triplet grandchildren, William, Jenna and Tiffany, of Foxboro, Mass., and their mother Lisa Deeb Chaplin; a sister, Patricia Anderson, and her husband Dave, of Longs, S.C.; and a brother, David, and his wife Jenifer, of Sarasota, Fla.; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to a time of visitation Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, from 8:15-9:15 a.m. at the Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St, Portland. Prayers will be recited at 9:15 a..m. at the funeral home, to be followed by a Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St., Portland.
