Gloria Sherwood Young

Gloria Sherwood Young, 80, of Westbrook, died on August 28, 2016. She passed away peacefully with family by her side. She was born in South Gardiner on July 29, 1936. She was the daughter of Clive and Ruth Sherwood. She worked as a day care cook for PROP for 22 years. She enjoyed baking cookies and biscuits for the whole family. She never forgot a birthday or everyone’s favorite cookies. She also loved to knit and crochet.

She raised 4 daughters and helped raise 2 of her 4 grandchildren. She was a kind and gentle soul who always found good in all situations. She is predeceased by her daughter Rebecca Tibbetts. She is survived by daughters Cynthia Tibbetts of Portland; Shea Liebe of Denver and Debora Stobie of Westbrook. Grandchildren, Amanda, Lorna, Jerome and Keagan. Great granddaughter Paige and close family friends Bill and Tonya Hood of Farmington.

She is also survived by her beloved siblings Gordon Sherwood and wife Sylvia Earl Sherwood; Philip Sherwood; sister and best friend Sally Stowell, also many nieces, nephews and many devoted friends.

Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Friday September 2, 2016 from 10:00AM to 11:00AM in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine. A funeral service will be held immediately following at 11:00AM in the funeral home.

Interment will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland, Maine.
