Jacky was born in Rumford on June 1, 1929. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mildred (Caruthers) Herbert. She attended Rumford schools, including Stephens High School. For many years Jackie worked for WLBZ: as a weather lady, on the show “Dance Party”, and on “Romper Room” where she was affectionately known to many Maine children as “Miss Jackie”.
Following her time at WBLZ Jacky became the Sales Manager of the Sheraton Hotel in Portland. Eventually she founded her own business as a travel agent, running “Jacky Herbert Travel” until her retirement. Of course, Jacky enjoyed traveling and being outdoors running and biking. She spent much of her time volunteering for various organizations over the years, but had a special fondness for the American Lung Association. She later moved to Port Charlotte, FL along with her husband Francis, where she remained active and outgoing.
Jacky was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. When she walked in, her smile was said to light up a room. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and by the many cherished friends she made over the years.
Predeceasing Jacky are her parents and her brother, Joseph Herbert.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the American Lung Association of Maine.
