Jacqueline Ann Marcisso (Audette), 92, of Portland, ME passed peacefully, appropriately surrounded by three generations of her family and her husband on Tuesday, February 10, 2026. Jackie, as she was known, was born the youngest of eight to Fredrick and Ella Audette on April 12,1933 in Portland, ME. Her humble beginnings, being born in the midst of the great depression, were never a hindrance or limit to her beautiful life. She recalled fondly her youth on Munjoy Hill with her sisters, brothers and dearest lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Joan Macisso. She was a very proud Lady Bulldog and graduated from Portland High School in 1951.
It was at the wedding of her older sister Rainey where she first met her partner and love of her life, Samuel Marcisso Sr., while still in high school. The two married in October of 1953 and began a beautiful life together as each other’s everything. Together in Portland and then Scarborough they raised their six children and ten grandchildren. In her parenting she was able to forge a safe, respectful, and engaging life for her dearest daughter Suzan and the local community of children and adults with disabilities.
She was a very active parishioner of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church where she faithfully served the community as a member of Sacred Heart Sodality; baking cookies, volunteering and developing her faith. As her household began to down-size she was able to find time to work and for several years was a member of the Portland School Department.
Upon retirement she and Sam relocated seasonally to SE Florida where they flourished in the sun, with both new friends and old. The call of her motherhood was strong and after ten years they both returned full time to Maine to be closer to her children and grand babies. She hosted many “Nana Camps” over the years and gently imparted her wisdom to many young moms. Her graceful and beautiful way, her timely and warm embraces and her many thousands of Pizzelle cookies will be missed by all.
Jackie is predeceased by all her siblings as well as her daughter Suzan. She is survived by her husband of seventy-two years Samuel Marcisso Sr, her daughters, Lucretia and Husband John Hutchins and their two sons, Ann-Marie and her husband Stephen McCarthy and their three daughters, Marianne and her husband Anthony Barbano and her daughter, her sons Samuel Marcisso Jr. and his wife Karen and their two sons, and James Marcisso and his wife Rebecca and their two daughters. She was the incredibly proud grandmother of ten, great grandmother of sixteen great grandchildren and auntie to many.
A private visitation will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on February 23, 2026, at St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St. Portland. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in South Portland.
