

Portland – James “Jim” Anthony Gorham, 67, life partner to Joanne Morton, entered into heaven on August 26, 2010.
Born in Portland, son of the late Camilla (Caiazzo) Gorham and John Gorham, Jim graduated from Portland High School in 1961. He entered the United States Army in 1965 and served as Tank Commander and Honor Guard in the National Guard Reserves.
Jim was an entrepreneur opening his own grocery market (Jim’s Market) in Cornish Maine from 1979-1985. He later became a Courier with Emery Worldwide and a member of the Teamsters Brotherhood where he served as Shop Steward. He joined the Teamsters full time as a Business Agent for Local 340 where he assisted with multiple labor negotiations. His tenure with the Teamsters Brotherhood was until 2002 when he retired as Vice President.
Jim loved music, dancing and playing basketball. His favorite artist was Elvis Presley. He enjoyed spending time with his family, volunteering his time to his community via the Teamsters, Kiwanis and Lions Club. Jim was also a Eucharistic Minister at Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Windham. Jim was an avid photographer and enjoyed sharing his art work at “Art in the Park”.
Jim was a loving Father to Janine Marie Gorham, Scott David Gorham and his wife Sandra (Bisceglia) Gorham, Jason Stuart Gorham, and Justin James Gorham. Devoted Grandfather (Grandpa Jim and Papa Jim) to Lynne Jean Lowell and Alexandra Jane Gorham. Dear brother of John Gorham, Helen DeRoche, Patricia Curran, Michael Gorham.
Besides his parents he is predeceased by his brother Thomas Michael Gorham and sister Mary Ann French. He was blessed with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be on Sunday, August 29 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Jones-Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street Portland.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on 10 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church 72 Federal St. Portland.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at New Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to The South Portland Food Cupboard, 29 Aspen Avenue, South Portland, ME 04106.
