FALMOUTH — Judy A. Bonney, 56, passed away on March 3, 2010, at Androscoggin Hospice House in Auburn.
Judy was born on Feb. 27, 1954, to Ethelyn and the late Stanley L. Munroe of Falmouth. Judy grew up and lived on the Middle Road in Falmouth, graduating from Falmouth High School in 1972. Judy was an avid athlete and sports enthusiast and participated in many extracurricular activities, including band, track, and basketball. She excelled in all, but enjoyed softball the most.
Judy's first job was as a clerk at King's Department Store in Falmouth. She started her own cleaning company a short time later. With the help of Walter Baker she joined the United States Postal Service in 1984. Judy started as a letter sorter and ultimately finished her career operating a computer based sorting machine. During her 25 years at the post office she made numerous wonderful friends. Judy retired in August.
Judy was a devoted mother, daughter, and friend. She took great pride when her son, Bill, became a police officer in Waterville and again when he was promoted to Sergeant. She enjoyed watching basketball games with Bill and going to see her granddaughter, Ashlie, play soccer.
Judy was friendly, caring, fun, and a joy to spend time with. She loved to cook and eat Italian food. Some of her favorite activities with family and friends included: the annual 4th of July lobster bake, swimming in her backyard pool, and family trips to Atlantic City, D.C., New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Connecticut.
She is survived by her mother Ethelyn; her son Bill and his fiancé Heather; her two grandchildren, Ashlie and Lauren; her brother and sister-in-law, Alan and Cathy Munroe; her uncle Donald Spring; many cousins; specials friends; and friends from the Falmouth Police Department.
