June Beaulieu Roy of Portland died peacefully May 15, 2012. She passed as she lived, with grace, courage, dignity and virtue of an older time and place. Born June 30, 1924, in Augusta, eldest daughter of Edward Beaulieu and Sadie LeClair Beaulieu. June attended local schools and graduated from Cony High School, class of 1943. June, the beloved wife of Robert W. Roy, celebrated 63 years of life together prior to his passing in February 24, 2009. They resided in Portland for 50 years with their 11 children after the loss of their eldest at the age of 8 from cancer. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother in the very highest sense of those words, nurturing a happy, secure, healthy home for her family. She listened with her heart, touching many lives with her love and kindness. A woman of strong faith, June was a lifelong communicant of St. Joseph's Church. After her children had grown, June continued her education at Westbrook College. She enjoyed working with the elderly and volunteered at St. Joseph's Manor. Her gardens of zinnias, dahlias and gladiolas were beautiful. Snowmobiling in Jackman, RVing across the US and wintering in FL were adventures shared later in life with her husband and friends.
She was predeceased by three sons, William, Richard and Mark, a grandson, Jason, and two sisters, Gerene Webber and Theresa Gagnon. She is survived and dearly missed by her children, Robert P. Roy and Shirley Wilbur, Donna (Lapp) Roy, Nancy and Ed Jackson, Greg and Brenda Roy, Joyce and Bob Pieper, Brenda and Ted Milne, Jeanne and Bob Lamontagne, Denise and Paul Perkins, John Roy and Stacie Towns. Grandchildren Tanya Lapp Iverson, R.William. Lapp Jr., Joseph Roy-Mayhew; Michelle Roy Beveridge; John C., Aaron, Kevin, and Nicole Pieper; Nicholas, Audrey, Ashley, Amanda, and Alayna Milne; Charles, Sadie, Mercedes, and Dillon Perkins; Violette Roy, and 5 great grandchildren. They lovingly called her Meme. They will always hold her fondly in their hearts. She will be remembered as a loving sister by her brother Raymond and Joyce Beaulieu and Aunt June many nieces, nephews. All who knew her loved her. The family would like to extend a special thanks of gratitude to friends and family members, the staff of Bowdoin Group, Dr. Eric Taylor, the staff at Beacon Hospice, Sonje Mitchell, Cathy Cogswell, Bill Graham, Annette, Pam, Loretta, Sue, Theresa, Barbara, Karen, Lisa, Debra, Audrey, Leslie, Patricia and Fay.
