Justin Kevin Hall, 64, of Portland, Maine known to many simply as Kevin, formerly of Marysville, Washington, passed away on July 24, 2025, after a hard-fought illness marked by resilience, stubborn optimism, and the love of those who stood by him.
Kevin lived a truly bicoastal life, building deep connections in both New England and the Seattle area. He served his country aboard the USS Dixon in San Diego and went on to have an adventurous and varied career working on Crowley tugboats in Alaska, building Bayliner boats in Seattle, serving the Alderwood Water District in Lynnwood, and later bringing his mechanical expertise to Hayes Pump and DeLucca Fence Company, which took him across New England. Kevin was incredibly smart, with an uncanny memory and ability to retain information and details (important and trivial).
Kevin loved camping, fishing, and the rhythms of life under the open sky. He loved music, especially Led Zeppelin, whom he saw live in the 1970s (and never let us forget it)! He loved vintage cars and recently spent time customizing and showing a 1967 F-100 pickup. His life was enriched by a wide circle of extraordinarily close and loyal friends, whose bonds spanned decades and distances.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Renee Hall Crabtree, her husband, Justin P. Crabtree, and his cherished grandson, Casper Francis Crabtree. He also leaves behind his mother, Marjory Cory Hall; his sisters, Debbie Brooks Reiter (and her husband, Steve) and Heather Hall Chandler (and her husband, Steven); and his sister-in-law, Chris Watters Summers. He is fondly remembered by his wonderful nieces and nephews, who affectionately called him Uncle Awesome.
Kevin was predeceased by his wife and soulmate, Kyle Watters Hall; his father, Gary L. Hall; his sister, Dorene Peterson; and his brother, Brandon Hall.
Kevin’s life was defined by integrity, resilience, and the kind of steadfast friendship that leaves a lasting legacy. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Details about a memorial gathering will be shared with friends and family at a later date
