

Kont Hanka was born on February 3, 1943 in Budapest, Hungary.
Kont “Hank” Hanka attended schools in Hungary and Argentina.
His occupations included serving as a Merchant Marine and working for Portland Public Schools in the Maintenance Department.
In 1975, Hank met Eleanor DiPietro at a dance at the Eagles Club on St. John Street. They dated for a short time and quickly realized that they were made for each other. Hank took Eleanor for a ride and gave her a choice of either going shopping in Boston or getting married. Eleanor and Hank were married on November 26, 1976, and were blessed with 38 years of marriage.
Hank was predeceased by his beloved wife, Eleanor DiPietro, in laws Marietta and Goachino “Jack” DiPietro, Josephine and Joseph Addario, Doris Capozza, John J. “Wally” Walsh, Harold “Buddy” Hight, and a niece and nephew.
He is survived by sister in laws Petronilla “Priscilla” Walsh, Anna Hight, Phyllis Mancini, brother in laws Anthony Mancini and Joseph Capozza. an aunt, uncle and brother in Hungary, and nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.
Hank was proud of becoming an United States citizen on November 30, 1982 . He was a member of the Golf Construction League. Hank was a communicant of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and was actively involved in the annual fundraising events for the St Peter’s Bazaar and golf tournament.
Two of Hank’s hobbies and sources of enjoyment were snowmobiling and golfing with friends and family.
Kont Hanka felt that his greatest accomplishment and source of pride was becoming a loved member of a large extended family.
The family of Kont “Hank” Hanka would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Dugan of the Maine Center for Cancer Medicine, Laurie DiPietro, Lorraine and Jolene, Team Hank, and Hospice of Southern Maine for their care, support and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kont Hanka’s memory, may be made to the St Peter’s Catholic Church Beautification fund 72 Federal Street Portland, Maine.
Relatives and friends may call at the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Sunday 2-5 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10 am from St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, 72 Federal St. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, So. Portland.
