

Lillian Stinson, 90 passed away December 22 after a brief illness. She was born in Portland Maine to Vernon and Margaret Hamilton on August 26, 1924. As a young girl, she lived on Chebeague Island later moving to Munjoy Hill. She graduated from Portland High School. After retiring from Canal Bank as head of bookkeeping, she decided to take a part time job. She went to work at the Country Kitchen Thrift store on Warren Ave and worked there for 25 years, retiring a second time at age 90. She enjoyed the customers and made many friends over the years. Her greatest happiness was her family. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother and aunt.
As a young woman she was an avid golfer, shooting in the 80’s many times at the Purpoodock Club.
Lillian is predeceased by her husband James Stinson, sisters Margaret Davis and Arlene Bucklin, brother Louis Hamilton and grandson David Stinson. She is survived by her son Robert Stinson and his wife Marydee of Portland and granddaughter Robyn Stinson also of Portland.
The family would like to give special thanks to the caring staff of Seaside Healthcare and Beacon Hospice.
There are no visiting hours scheduled. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 31, 2014 at 11:00AM in the Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home 199 Woodford St. Portland, Maine.
